Job Description
Responsibilities
• Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform using Kotlin and Java.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Work with outside data sources and APIs, including RESTful services and third-party SDKs.
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
• Identify and correct bottlenecks, fix bugs, and improve application performance.
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximise development efficiency.
• Translate product requirements and wireframes into functional, high-quality Android applications.
• Ensure UI/UX best practices and Material Design guidelines are adhered to throughout development.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, organization, and consistency.
• Maintain and improve existing Android codebase; document application changes and develop updates.
• Integrate with CI/CD pipelines and ensure automated testing coverage.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate REST APIs and optimize data exchange.
Skills & Qualification
Must Have
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar field.
• 2-5 Years of proven experience as an Android Developer with published apps on the Google Play Store.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin; working knowledge of Java.
• Solid experience with the Android SDK, Android Studio, and associated development tools.
• Familiarity with Android architecture components: ViewModel, LiveData, Room, WorkManager.
• Experience with MVVM or MVP architectural patterns.
• Proficient in consuming RESTful APIs using Retrofit or OkHttp.
• Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger 2 or Hilt.
• Familiarity with reactive programming using RxJava or Kotlin Coroutines and Flows.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, particularly Git.
• Experience with unit testing and instrumented testing using JUnit, Espresso, or Mockito.
• Good understanding of memory management, threading, and performance optimisation in Android.
