Job Description
The Cloud Operations (CloudOps) Engineer is responsible for
managing, monitoring, and optimizing cloud infrastructure to ensure high
availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency of cloud‑based
systems. The role closely collaborates with DevOps, Security, Development, and
IT teams to maintain reliable cloud operations and support business‑critical
applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage
and operate cloud infrastructure across platforms such as AWS, Azure, or
GCP.
- Monitor
cloud environments to ensure uptime, performance, and availability of
applications and services.
- Perform
incident management, root cause analysis, and resolution for cloud
infrastructure issues.
- Implement
and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions.
- Optimize
cloud resource utilization and cost (rightsizing, cost monitoring,
budgeting).
- Manage
backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- Ensure
cloud environments adhere to security, compliance, and governance
standards.
- Support
deployments and releases in collaboration with DevOps and Engineering
teams.
- Handle
patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities.
- Document
operational procedures, runbooks, and incident reports.
- Participate in on‑call support and production issue handling as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s
degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Hands‑on
experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS / Azure / GCP).
- Strong
understanding of cloud infrastructure components (compute, storage,
networking, IAM).
- Experience
with Linux/Unix systems administration.
- Familiarity
with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus,
Grafana, ELK).
- Experience
with scripting languages (Shell, Python, or PowerShell).
- Understanding
of networking concepts (VPC/VNet, VPN, load balancers, DNS).
- Good
knowledge of incident management and operational best practices.
Good to Have
- Experience
with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates, CloudFormation).
- Exposure
to containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge
of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience
with security tools, vulnerability management, and cloud compliance
frameworks.
- Cloud
certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
