Job Description
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITY1. Test Case Design & Execution
• Analyze requirements, user stories, and PRDs to design test cases
• Execute functional, regression, integration, and smoke tests
• Log detailed, reproducible defects with clear steps and evidence
• Retest fixes and verify closure before release
2. GenAI-Assisted Testing (Emerging Skill)
• Use GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, internal AI tools) under guidance to: ▪ Draft test cases from requirements and user stories
▪ Suggest edge cases and negative scenarios ▪ Summarize defect patterns from test runs
• Build familiarity with prompt-based test generation workflows
• Flag opportunities where AI can reduce repetitive manual effort
3. Test Automation (UI & API) — Growing Skillset
• Write and maintain automation scripts for UI (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) under senior mentorship
• Execute API tests using Postman / REST Assured for assigned modules
• Contribute test cases to the regression automation suite
• Support automation runs within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI)
4. Jira & Defect Management • Log and track defects with accurate severity, priority, and steps to reproduce • Maintain traceability between test cases, user stories, and defects in Jira • Participate in defect triage and follow up on assigned bugs • Update test execution status and reports for each sprint
5. Test Planning Support • Assist in creating test scenarios for functional, regression, and UAT coverage • Review acceptance criteria with product and engineering teams • Flag testing gaps or ambiguous requirements early
6. Collaboration & Continuous Learning • Work closely with developers to understand features before testing • Participate in sprint ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) • Continuously build skills in automation frameworks, API testing, and GenAI-assisted QA • Seek feedback from senior QA engineers to improve test coverage and efficiency
QUALIFICATION & SKILLSET
Core QA & Testing • 2-4 years of experience in software QA (manual + automation exposure)
• Working knowledge of functional, regression, and integration testing • Basic hands-on exposure to UI automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright) • Basic exposure to API testing (Postman)
• Familiarity with one programming/scripting language (Java, Python, or JavaScript) is a plus GenAI in QA (Good-to-Have, Growing Expectation)
• Curiosity and willingness to use GenAI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot) for test case ideation
• Comfortable experimenting with AI-assisted prompts for testing tasks Jira & Process
• Working knowledge of Jira for defect logging and tracking
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum ceremonies and sprint-based QA execution
